Course Details:
Duration: Approximately 4 hours
Setting: All training takes place on the range
This objectives-based course is designed to combine and test the critical skills need to be a proficient defensive shooter and responsible CCW holder. Participants will refine techniques such as holster draw, reloading, and clearing malfunctions.
The hands-on drills aim to develop various skills:
Defensive accuracy (flash sight picture)

Instinctive shooting
Movement and shooting from behind cover/concealment

Notes:
All hands-on drills are objective-based and serve as a foundation for subsequent drills. Attendees cannot progress to the next drill unless they can safely and effectively complete the previous one.
Students will have the opportunity to shoot the NRA MPQ for Defensive Pistol 1 or Defensive Pistol 2, depending on the MPQ prerequisites.
This course is not intended for beginners. Students are advised to have completed prior training, such as the NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting, NRA Personal Protection Inside the Home, or a similar course.
Course Requirements:
Be 21 years or older
Provide a handgun (.9mm or larger)
Use a strongside Kydex/plastic holster (no leather) that fits the firearm, fully covers the trigger guard, and stays open when the firearm is removed
Bring a concealment garment
Supply at least 3 magazines/speed loaders, magazine pouches or speed loader pouches, and 250 rounds of new factory ammunition (no reloads)
Important Equipment Notes:
Only Kydex/plastic holsters are permitted. Shoulder holsters, Blackhawk Serpa Holsters, and Bulldog Rapid Release Holsters are not allowed.
Holsters should securely fit the firearm and meet all safety standards.
Ammunition must be new and unmodified; no reloads.
Firearms must have no modifications to triggers or internal safety mechanisms.
